Creating Community and Belonging

Victor and Nina Alves, owners of Vecno Management, ensure residents are never alone during hardships.

The couple goes above and beyond to provide the resources needed to remain in their communities.

Since 2019, the Alves have been providing affordable housing opportunities to Opportunity Home residents, renting units from their housing portfolio to the organization’s Housing Choice Voucher participants.

When residents are caught with a financial bind, Vecno Management supplies a list of rental and utility assistance organizations.

“As long as they communicate with us, we will provide the resources they need,” said Nina Alves. “We are a professional management company and try to get them what they need within three to five days.”

They also take pride in offering safe and spacious homes individuals and families can afford, making it a point to show available units, explain the move-in and rent-payment process, and work with Opportunity Home on facilitating move-ins in a timely manner.

Hosting events, such as Easter-egg hunts, Halloween trick-or-treat fun and holiday-light celebrations, create community and bring residents together.

“It’s rewarding to provide families a home and help them,” said Nina Alves.

“We try to make our events as engaging as possible,” added Victor Alves. “Our residents are not just tenants paying rent, they are part of our community.”

Opportunity Home recently implemented the Owner Incentive Payments program, providing a $500 incentive to owners who lease to participants in either the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) or Mainstream programs. To learn more, visit our Landlords page or email [email protected].
