Affiliate Entities

Opportunity Home San Antonio partners with a network of nonprofit affiliate entities and public facility corporations that support affordable housing and community investment efforts in San Antonio. These organizations play an important role in the financing, development, ownership, and preservation of affordable housing communities while also supporting resident services and long-term organizational initiatives.

Housing Ownership and Operations

San Antonio Housing Development Corporation (SAHDC)
Established in 1977, SAHDC owns three multifamily rental developments with 254 apartments and manages two senior housing developments affiliated with Opportunity Home. SAHDC also serves as the developer and general partner of three limited partnerships established with private investors to expand housing opportunities for low-income families and seniors.

San Antonio Housing Facility Corporation (SAHFAC)
SAHFAC leases the Central Office building to Opportunity Home through a 40-year lease agreement that expires in 2035. The organization also provides management services to Opportunity Home and its affiliates. SAHFAC owns eight multifamily rental developments with 871 apartments and serves as the general partner for Homestead Redevelopment Partnership, Ltd. SAHFAC also serves as the sole owner of limited liability companies connected to tax credit limited partnerships.

Sunshine Plaza Apartments, Inc.
Established in 1988, Sunshine Plaza Apartments, Inc. owns Sunshine Plaza Apartments, a 100-unit senior housing development built through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Section 8 New Construction Program.

Pecan Hill Apartments, Inc.
Established in 1988, Pecan Hill Apartments Inc. owns Pecan Hill Apartments, a 100-unit senior housing development built through HUD’s Section 8 New Construction Program.

Pin Oak Apartments, Inc.
The Pin Oak Apartments, Inc., was established in 1988 as a nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The organization owns Pin Oak Apartments, a 50-unit senior housing community developed through HUD’s Section 8 New Construction Program.

Converse Ranch, LLC
Converse Ranch, LLC was formed in 2007 to acquire an interest in the 124-unit Converse Ranch Apartments community. Opportunity Home currently serves as the sole owner of the entity.

Converse Ranch II, LLC
Converse Ranch II, LLC was formed in 2009 to acquire an interest in the 104-unit Converse Ranch Apartments Phase II community. Opportunity Home currently serves as the sole owner of the entity.

Vera Cruz Redevelopment Partnership, Ltd.
Formed in 1991, Vera Cruz Redevelopment Partnership, Ltd. owns and operates the 29-unit Villa de San Alfonso Apartments for low-income seniors through the federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. In 2009, SAHFAC acquired a 99% interest in the partnership, which is now wholly owned by an Opportunity Home affiliate.

Homestead Redevelopment Partnership, Ltd.
Formed in 1991, Homestead Redevelopment Partnership, Ltd. owns and operates the 158-unit Homestead Apartments for low-income residents through the federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program. SAHDC acquired a majority ownership interest in the partnership in 2009 and an additional ownership interest in 2011. The partnership is now wholly owned by an Opportunity Home affiliate.

San Antonio Homeownership Opportunities Corporation
Opportunity Home established the San Antonio Homeownership Opportunities Corporation in July 1994 under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code to redevelop single-family properties and provide lower-income families with opportunities to purchase their first homes through lease-purchase and other homeownership programs.

Public Facility Corporations

Springhill/Courtland Heights Public Facility Corporation
Created in 1998, Springhill/Courtland Heights Public Facility Corporation supports the financing, rehabilitation, and operation of three multifamily apartment communities with 505 units. The corporation also receives HUD rental subsidies through a Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) contract that supports housing for low- and moderate-income residents.

Woodhill Public Facility Corporation
Created in 1999, Woodhill Public Facility Corporation supports the financing, rehabilitation, and operation of a 532-unit multifamily apartment community.  

Sendero I Public Facility Corporation
Created in 2002, Sendero I Public Facility Corporation supports the financing and development of a 192-unit affordable housing community with income-based rent limits tied to area median income and unit size.

Sendero II Public Facility Corporation
Created in 2002 under Chapter 303 of the Texas Local Government Code, Sendero II Public Facility Corporation was organized to act on behalf of Opportunity Home under the Texas Public Facility Corporation Act. The corporation supports the acquisition, construction, rehabilitation, renovation, repair, equipping, furnishing, and operation of a multifamily apartment community.

Refugio Street Public Facility Corporation
Created in 2001, Refugio Street Public Facility Corporation supports the financing and development of a 210-unit multifamily apartment community.

Las Varas Public Facility Corporation
Created in 2005, Las Varas Public Facility Corporation serves as the sole member of several limited liability companies established to support the financing and development of apartment communities.  

Housing Finance and Development

San Antonio Housing Finance Corporation (SAHFC)
SAHFC was created under the Texas Housing Finance Corporations Act to issue tax-exempt housing revenue bonds that support the construction, acquisition, and rehabilitation of housing for low- and moderate-income families. Responsibility for repayment remains with the recipients of the bond proceeds.

Resident and Employee Support

Opportunity Home Community Fund, Inc.
A nonprofit organization established under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, Opportunity Home Community Fund, Inc. supports Opportunity Home residents through scholarships, educational initiatives, recreational opportunities, and programs that promote self-sufficiency and long-term success.

Housing Authority of the City of San Antonio Employees’ Money Purchase Pension Plan and Trust (The Plan)
Established in 1948, the Housing Authority of the City of San Antonio Employees’ Money Purchase Pension Plan and Trust is authorized under Section 810.001 of the Texas Government Code and is a governmental plan within the meaning of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). The Plan provides defined-contribution retirement benefits to eligible regular full-time Opportunity Home employees who have completed one year of service (at least 1,000 hours). The Plan is included as a component unit because Opportunity Home has fiduciary responsibility for it, and it serves only Opportunity Home employees and retirees.

Historical Entities

San Antonio Housing Opportunity Corporation (SAHOC)
The San Antonio Housing Opportunity Corporation (SAHOC) was incorporated on April 9, 1992, under the Texas Nonprofit Corporation Act as a perpetual entity. SAHOC supported the redevelopment of single-family properties for lower-income homeownership programs. 

Note: SAHOC was dissolved and absorbed into SAHFAC on Oct. 5, 2017.

San Antonio Housing Authority Foundation, Inc.
Established in 1991 under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, San Antonio Housing Authority Foundation, Inc. supported residents of public housing and Section 8-assisted housing through educational scholarships, recreational activities and self-sufficiency programs. 

Note: The organization was renamed Education Investment Foundation, Inc. on July 5, 2007, and became Opportunity Home Community Fund, Inc. on Nov. 12, 2025.
