Opportunity Home San Antonio recently secured a $117,256 Emergency Safety and Security Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to be allocated toward bolstering safety at three of its public housing communities.
With the award, the organization aims to improve safety at Westway, Cheryl West and Mission Park apartments, enhancing lighting, alarm, access control and security camera systems at the properties.
Through these advanced security measures, Opportunity Home seeks to reduce crime around its most vulnerable communities and boost the quality of life for its residents.
“Improving safety and security at our properties is critical in our mission to deliver compassionate, equitable and vibrant communities where our residents can thrive,” said Opportunity Home Director of Security Domingo Ibarra. “Our residents can sleep better knowing that there are updated security systems in place to protect their well-being.”
