Muriel Rhoder, Chief Administrative Officer for Opportunity Home San Antonio, was selected as a recipient of the 2023 San Antonio Business Journal’s (SABJ) Women’s Leadership Award on June 20.

The publication honors dynamic female leaders who have been nominated by their peers for their contributions to their organizations in the past year. All award recipients will be recognized during the 2023 Women’s Leadership Awards Luncheon on Aug. 10 at the Norris Conference Centers.

Rhoder fostered impactful change for the organization with residents and employees at the forefront. Her efforts included leading the Innovative Technology department’s efforts in connecting more than 50,000 residents who reside in Opportunity Home communities with no-cost internet access and digital devices and emphasizing a greater focus on awarding contracts to vendors who fall under the Small, Minority and Women-owned Business (SWMBE) classification. SWMBE businesses provide employment and training opportunities to individuals who identify as low-income.

It is humbling to have been selected for this award,” Rhoder said. “The services we provide in the community are essential to so many families and I am honored to be part of an organization with a powerful mission.

Opportunity Home President and CEO Ed Hinojosa, Jr., who nominated Rhoder, refers to her as an “exemplary” leader.

Muriel is a wonderful leader who always has the well-being and success of others at heart,” Hinojosa, Jr. said. “I look forward to seeing the growth in services and resources under her leadership for years to come.
