FHLB Dallas Awards $1 Million Grant to Support Roof Upgrades at Cassiano Homes
Opportunity Home San Antonio has been awarded a $1 million grant through the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas’ (FHLB Dallas) 2025 FORTIFIED Rental Program to advance roof replacement work on 26 buildings at Cassiano Homes.
Woodforest National Bank®, an FHLB Dallas member, sponsored the successful application.
The grant, approved Nov. 12, 2025, supports installation of FORTIFIED Roof upgrades, a nationally recognized construction standard created by the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS). FORTIFIED roofs are designed to prevent water intrusion, increase wind resistance and strengthen overall building durability — helping safeguard residents during severe weather and extending the life of the property.

The funding allows Opportunity Home to begin the next steps required under the FORTIFIED program, including coordination with IBHS and evaluation by a certified FORTIFIED professional. IBHS will issue final FORTIFIED Certificates once the project is completed and meets all program standards.

A check presentation with FHLB Dallas and Woodforest National Bank is anticipated to recognize the award.
Cassiano Homes provides affordable housing to hundreds of families in San Antonio. The roof upgrades support Opportunity Home’s broader capital strategy to modernize aging public housing, improve building performance and enhance resident safety.
