Taneka “Nikki” Johnson has spent more than 25 years empowering individuals through her work as a motivational speaker, author, podcast host, minister and digital content creator. Known for igniting hope and resilience, she helps people navigate adversity, reshape their narratives and step confidently into the lives they are called to live. Her passion for service extends beyond her public work — she is a hands-on community advocate committed to supporting individuals and families facing housing, food and financial insecurities.
A dedicated leader in community service, Johnson volunteers with numerous food distribution and resource organizations throughout San Antonio. She serves on more than 15 affordable housing subcommittees, action teams, panels, task forces and workgroups, where she brings lived experience, strategic insight and a faith-centered perspective to complex housing issues. She is an active member of REACH, serves on the VOICE Board, and contributes to the Special Housing Supply Taskforce, helping shape solutions to the city’s most urgent housing challenges.
Johnson also serves as a community stakeholder for the Risk Mitigation Fund Policy — now the Emergency Housing Assistance Program — advocating for protections that support residents in crisis. She previously served for five years as a Housing Commissioner for the City of San Antonio, leaving a lasting impact on the city’s affordable housing landscape.
