Barbara Ankamah Burford

Barbara Ankamah Burford is the Vice President of Philanthropy and Community Impact for Wells Fargo, where she oversees philanthropic efforts across the greater San Antonio market. In this role, she ensures Wells Fargo supports impactful nonprofit initiatives in financial health, sustainability, small business growth and housing affordability. She brings more than 20 years of experience administering programs that strengthen small businesses, expand workforce opportunities, assist first-time homebuyers, advance affordable housing, and foster neighborhood engagement.

Burford began her career as Vice President of Business Development for the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce before spending 15 years with the City of San Antonio. At the Economic Development Department, she guided partnership with local, state, and regional organizations to maximize education and training resources, resulting in job growth and stronger workforce viability. She later held leadership roles in the Neighborhood & Housing Services Department, where she managed federally funded housing programs and advanced the city’s affordable housing and neighborhood engagement goals.
