Dell Donates 40 Laptops to Opportunity Home to Bridge Digital Divide Among Low-Income Families

Feb. 10, 2022

The Opportunity Home San Antonio (Opportunity Home) received 40 refurbished computers from Dell Technologies to support ConnectHomeSA and bridge the digital divide among low-income families.

The computers were donated through Dell’s Refurbished Laptop Donation Program, which allows employees to select a charity through its Dell Giving team. The company sets aside a limited quantity of refurbished laptops quarterly to donate to people in need. Each computer is worth approximately $800.

The donations will help equip a family with a free computer once they complete digital literacy courses through ConnectHomeSA. By having a device, Opportunity Home residents can create resumes, apply for college and jobs, complete school work or other virtual tasks.

“Digital inclusion gives our residents the resources and the power to achieve goals they thought would have been impossible to achieve,” said Brandee Perez, Opportunity Home Chief Operating Officer. “What was impossible is now possible. We thank Dell for joining forces with Opportunity Home and ConnectHomeSA to help connect families in our community.”

Since 2015, ConnectHomeSA has been helping residents receiving affordable housing assistance from Opportunity Home get up to speed on the adoption and utilization of broadband technology.
