
Joel Tabar is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of Opportunity Home’s public housing communities, which includes nearly 6,000 rental units at 56 multifamily communities and 73 single-family properties. He also directs the grant-funded service coordination programs and community-building initiatives designed to empower and equip families to improve their quality of life and achieve economic self-sufficiency.
In his previous role as Assistant Director of Federal Housing Programs, Tabar coordinated the successful administration of the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, which provides quality affordable housing to more than 13,000 families, and special purpose housing programs designed to assist San Antonio’s homeless and other vulnerable populations.
A Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) licensed real estate sales agent, Tabar holds more than a dozen professional certifications in Housing Choice Voucher and Public Housing program administration and management.
Tabar holds a Bachelors of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science in Sociology from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
