Holidays Made Brighter for Residents

Opportunity Home San Antonio hosted its annual holiday gift distribution for residents who make a median annual household income of less than $10,000 on Dec. 16.
More than 4,000 gifts were provided to families with children and elderly who receive assistance from the public housing or housing choice voucher programs — either by delivery or during the in-person event.
The organization’s park turned into an immersive winter wonderland where Santa Claus made a surprise visit with his helpers providing live entertainment, cookies and cocoa, and decorative activities for those in attendance.
“For our residents, this time of year means having to make tough financial decisions that could mean not having sufficient funds to purchase gifts for their loved ones,” said Opportunity Home Chief Operating Officer Brandee Perez. “This is why we commit the resources possible to alleviate that burden and provide a gift that makes all the difference and memories that will last a lifetime.”
