Catellus Development Corporation & Opportunity Home San Antonio Announce Homebuilders for Victoria Commons

Construction on the 63 townhomes is officially underway, and a variety of floor plans and designs will be available.

SAN ANTONIO, TX (May 7, 2024)Catellus Development Corporation (Catellus) and Opportunity Home San Antonio are pleased to announce the homebuilders that have been selected for the first phase of the Victoria Commons redevelopment in downtown San Antonio. CVF Homes and Wes Peoples Homes are developing 63 single-family homes ranging from three to four bedrooms. Construction is officially underway and the first homes are expected to be available as soon as fall 2024.

Catellus ran a competitive process to select the builders for Victoria Commons. “We searched for companies with a strong track record of building homes with quality design in an urban environment,” said Greg Weaver, Executive Vice President of Catellus. “We selected CVF Homes and Wes Peoples Homes for this exact reason – in addition to their great credentials, they are both known for a modern approach to urban home building.” CVF Homes is a San Antonio-based company known for its sustainable building practices and conservation of historic neighborhoods. The company specializes in infill development and is familiar with the city, having completed projects in downtown San Antonio, Lone Star, Lavaca Historic District, King William Historic District, Dignowity Hill, City of Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills and Southtown.

CVF Homes will take the lead on 13 homes in the Victoria Commons development. The homes will be available in three different floor plans with either three or four bedrooms. The builder’s plan for the project is to utilize sustainable design that integrates the latest technology and the most energy and water efficient systems, while minimizing carbon footprint. The company’s design process will implement practical requirements for how people live today, while incorporating the outdoors with the indoor design elements to harmonize modern day living. “CVF homes and Alberto Isunza AIA are excited to participate in the Victoria Commons project,” said CVF Homes Owner Juan M. Fernandez. “We live and work in the Southtown neighborhood of San Antonio and have built several projects in the area. Our specialty is combining original and relevant design while respecting the spirit and history of the neighborhood and its residents.”

All of the CVF houses will be solar-ready homes that will feature some of the highest standards of sustainability. They will also be designed using high indoor air quality and water efficiency features as well as Smart Home technologies. The homes will have open floor plans with natural light throughout. CVF Homes is partnering with Alberto Isunza AIA to complete the townhomes. Wes Peoples Homes is an Austin-based company with a dedication to building quality residences and supporting communities. The builder has been constructing homes in Texas for
more than four decades and specializes in designing homes that enrich the inhabitants’ quality of life.

Wes Peoples Homes will be constructing a total of 50 homes in the Victoria Commons development. The company is building 42 townhomes with eight floor plan options. The builder is also constructing eight zero-lot line, detached single-family homes in three different floor plans. Construction is officially underway on the homes. Wes Peoples Homes is working with Barron Custom Design to complete the zero-lot line homes and Kipp Flores Architects to
develop the townhomes.

The Vision of Victoria Commons

Victoria Commons will create new housing choices and affordable homes.

“We are excited to be a part of this project and to provide a mix of single-family and multifamily residential homes, adding quality housing to the city’s housing stock,” said Opportunity Home San Antonio Chief Real Estate and Development Officer Brandee Perez. “The builders were selected based on their track record of design and their reputations.
