Sept. 25, 2024

Opportunity Home San Antonio is partnering with the San Antonio Botanical Garden to create immersive experiences for its Public Housing residents. The Botanical Garden was awarded a significant grant to fund a new community Shuttle Access Program that will transport people from all over the city, all walks of life, all ages, and all abilities.

Residents will have the opportunity to receive free shuttle transportation from their community to the Botanical Garden as part of the Botanical Garden’s Shuttle Access Program. The Shuttle Access Program provides community groups from Bexar County and surrounding counties with free transportation to the greenery to encourage active participation in the garden education programs.

Through the partnership with the Botanical Garden, groups from Opportunity Home Public Housing communities will be bused to the greenery on the scheduled days, and will have the opportunity to explore the garden and participate in nature development and preservation classes, such as flower arranging, landscaping design, nature wellness and more.

The partnership with the Botanical Garden is emphatic of Opportunity Home’s commitment to provide its residents with interactive, healthy quality-of-life experiences and services they can thrive under.

“Providing these interactive, healthy experiences such as shuttles to and tours at the San Antonio Botanical Garden is fundamental to our mission in seeing our residents thrive in their communities,” said Opportunity Home San Antonio Director of Community Development Initiatives, Susan Ramos-Sossaman. “Seeing our residents create fun memories with their neighbors and participating in fun activities warms our hearts.”
