The Opportunity Home San Antonio (Opportunity Home) is hosting a back-to-school supply distribution in celebration of the upcoming school year to support nearly 2,000 children from families receiving affordable housing assistance.
The drive-thru event will provide registered families with a backpack filled with supplies needed for their grade level and brand new books to increase their vocabulary and literacy skills.
About 50 percent of families receiving housing assistance from Opportunity Home have children in their household, and the average family has an annual income of $10,000.
The school supplies were purchased through community donations to support families in need.
