Opportunity Home Welcomes New Board of Commissioners Member
Opportunity Home San Antonio is pleased to welcome Taneka “Nikki” Johnson as the newest member of its Board of Commissioners, following her appointment by San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones.
Johnson brings more than 25 years of experience as a motivational speaker, author, minister, digital content creator and community advocate. Known for empowering individuals to rise above adversity and pursue purposeful, stable lives, she has long supported residents facing housing, food and financial insecurities.
Her community leadership spans the city, where she volunteers with food distribution and resource organizations and serves on more than 15 affordable housing and community action subcommittees, panels, task forces and work groups. She is an active member of REACH, serves on the VOICE Board and contributes to the Special Housing Supply Task Force. Johnson also serves as a community stakeholder for the city’s Risk Mitigation Fund Policy — now the Emergency Housing Assistance Program — and previously spent five years as a City of San Antonio Housing Commissioner, helping strengthen the city’s affordable housing landscape.
“Nikki has spent decades lifting up individuals and families across San Antonio, especially those navigating the challenges of housing stability,” said Michael Reyes, president and CEO of Opportunity Home. “Her compassion, advocacy and commitment to the community make her an invaluable addition to our Board. We look forward to the impact her voice and leadership will bring to our mission.”
Johnson joins Opportunity Home’s Board of Commissioners with extensive experience in affordable housing and community advocacy. Her background will support the Board’s oversight and policy work as the organization continues to advance housing stability for San Antonio residents.
