Jo Ana Alvarado is a seasoned information technology executive with more than 40 years of experience using technology to drive organizational innovation. As Senior Director of Innovative Technology, she oversees IT operations, application support, service delivery, cybersecurity, project management, and business relationship functions across 20 departments serving more than 600 employees. She also leads Opportunity Home’s digital transformation efforts, including the integration of AI and other emerging technologies.
A strong advocate for digital inclusion, Jo Ana guided her team to a third-place national win in a Mozilla and National Science Foundation challenge for developing a solar-powered Wi-Fi mesh solution that expanded internet access for low-income families living in public housing. During the pandemic, she led efforts to bring Wi-FI connectivity to 74 Opportunity Home Public Housing and Affordable Housing Communities properties.
Under her leadership, the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) has recognized her team with multiple Awards of Merit, as well as two National Awards of Excellence — one for a cybersecurity awareness campaign and another for the AI Education and Enlightenment series.
