Jo Ana Alvarado has more than 40 years of Information Technology experience of bringing a fearless, fresh innovative thought-provoking approach to leveraging new technology to meet today’s challenging business needs. She joined Opportunity Home in 2012 and presently oversees the Innovative Technology Department, where she has spearheaded innovative digital transformation efforts to bridge the digital divide in public housing communities and implement leading edge cloud technologies. Her prior experience includes 14 years overseeing and managing the Information Technology department for a leading Hispanic marketing communications company in San Antonio, TX. Alvarado is a graduate of St. Mary’s University, and has more than seven years experience as a technology educator at San Antonio College. Alvarado is an advocate for digital inclusion and led her team to win third place in a nationwide Mozilla and National Science Foundation, Network Society, Smart Community Challenge when her team married solar and Wi-Fi mesh technology to bring digital equity to low-income families in public housing communities. Alvarado and her team are the recipients of several Awards of Merit from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials for digital transformation work and Award of Excellence for the successful implementation of a Cyber Security Awareness campaign. She relishes in being a leader to her team of progressive forward-thinking technology professionals.
