Opportunity Home San Antonio is accepting preliminary applications for a newly opened waitlist, Income-Based Housing Assistance (IBHA), beginning May 24. Applicants interested in applying for one- and two-bedroom units are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be 62 years of age or older.
The first self-developed multi-family apartment project by the organization, Snowden will provide affordable housing options for older adults who earn between 0-30% of the Area Median Income (AMI). The Snowden complex consists of 135 units and is equipped with amenities such as a hair salon, beach entrance swimming pool, on-site walking trails and energy-efficient appliances.
Income-Based Housing Assistance (IBHA) is not Public Housing nor Section 8. The initial IBHA property will be located at Snowden Apartments, 7323 Snowden Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78240, in the Medical Center area.
Applicants interested who meet the criteria below are encouraged to apply.
All household members must:
- Be 62 years of age or older
- Meet Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requirements on citizenship or immigration status
- Meet the application selection criteria and complete a full application at homesa.org
- Meet screening criteria related to criminal activity and have accepted prior rental history
- Not have any family members engaged in criminal activity that threatens the life, health, safety, or right to peaceful enjoyment of the premises by other residents
- Not have any family members engaged in any drug related criminal activity
- Have an annual income that does not exceed income limits established by HUD
- Not owe debts to Opportunity Home San Antonio or any other federally assisted housing programs
- Have a valid email address
- Have Social Security numbers for each household member if available
- Have a current mailing address
- Have an active phone number
Applicants can apply at homesa.myhousing.com. Those interested who have an active application and a portal account established with Opportunity Home can log into their portal account and be added to the IBHA waitlist if they meet the requirements.
